doTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing: Moldova Distillery Update

<<24>> The site had to be cleared.

<<27>> It had no facilities at all.

<<30>> There was no gas, electricity, or water.

<<33>> So we had to build a small substation

<<36>> to get electricity on the site,

<<39>> and lay pipes to have gas,

<<42>> build a well for water, and a water tower.

<<55>> After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991,

<<59>> like all other industries,

<<61>> essential oil production stopped overnight,

<<65>> but gradually and slowly, it's coming back.

<<70>> Moldova was one of the largest farming areas

<<74>> of aromatic plants and essential oil production

<<77>> in the Soviet Union.

<<79>> Lavender, rose, mint, clary sage, fennel, dill

<<84>> have been grown on a large industrial scale here.

<<88>> There were also 25 various aromatic plants cultivated

<<92>> and grown in Moldova considered to have high potential

<<98>> for food and flavor industry and medicinary purposes.

<<124>> and to many families in the area.
