system for the peppermint

<<36>> and then the Gideon's
have also been farming

<<40>> so trying to make sure we
have three rotational crops

income throughout the year.

<<57>> For the last five years,

<<59>> kind of this horn of Africa areas

let's say, a record breaking drought

<<64>> that they've been in a desperate situation.

<<68>> The natural rivers are quite a distance away

<<70>> so they really rely heavily on rainfall

<<73>> and catch basins to store water.

<<75>> And with the drought being as bad

<<77>> as it has been over the last five years,

<<79>> putting this mulch down
is gonna keep the moisture

<<83>> in the ground longer when it does rain

<<86>> allow the trees to be healthier.

<<123>> He started working with us in 2017.

<<127>> He started with just a
quarter acre of Tea Tree.

<<131>> And now how much land do you have?

<<133>> Five acres.

<<135>> He's grown too.

<<136>> And he employs 10 people.

<<139>> And all the farmers
come to him to learn how

<<141>> to grow Tea Tree

<<142>> because he's learned how to watch the land

<<144>> and take really good care of his plants.
