<<17>> in the future. My name is Tim

<<20>> Valentiner, I am Vice President of

<<23>> Global Sourcing at doTERRA, and I

<<25>> am grateful that Sheldon is

<<27>> by my side today. He is a

<<30>> key person of our sourcing

<<32>> team here in Europe.

<<33>> Sheldon, would you like to introduce yourself?

<<35>> Of course, thank you Tim. I'm happy to meet everyone

<<39>> and to be here with you. My

<<42>> name is Sheldon, I am the sourcing

<<43>> manager responsible for Eastern Europe

<<47>> and North Africa.

<<50>> Thank you.

<<51>> I mean, the founders, as we

<<55>> know, have laid a great foundation

<<57>> for what they envisioned with doTERRA,

<<60>> and I believe it

<<63>> probably exceeds their original

<<66>> vision by far. A lot of it

<<68>> consists of bringing these gifts of the earth,

<<70>> the power and efficacy of

<<73>> essential oils, into every household

<<75>> in the world. A big part

<<77>> of this mission is to distribute them in the

<<80>> model they created,

<<81>> but also

<<84>> to be very deliberate about how and

<<88>> where our oils and raw materials are

<<90>> sourced, from which these incredible

<<93>> products are made.

<<94>> Have you seen some of the sourcing

<<96>> principles applied in

<<99>> some of the supply chains you manage?

<<102>> Well, I mentioned that I manage

<<105>> sourcing from the Siberian forests

<<107>> down to Greece, and from

<<111>> North Africa, with the exception of Albania and

<<114>> Bulgaria.

<<118>> Legacy to me means helping to make

<<121>> the earth a better place and

<<124>> helping to create a much more

<<125>> inclusive

<<127>> system.

<<131>> For me, the role of a sourcing

<<134>> manager is more like that of a

<<136>> development aid worker,

<<138>> a sustainable development worker.

<<143>> To give some examples of this impact:

<<144>>

<<146>> When I started my role in 2017,

<<150>> I made my way to

<<152>> Siberia, about 800 kilometers deep into the

<<157>> Siberian forest,

<<159>> where we met the smallholders.

<<162>> These were called "pihtovari", which translates

<<165>> roughly to Siberian Fir (Siberian Fir)

<<167>> needle distillers.

<<170>> They were scattered over hundreds of kilometers

<<173>> in the Siberian forest,

<<177>> where there are no major income

<<178>> opportunities.

<<181>> They told me they had never

<<184>> seen a customer travel so far

<<188>> to visit them. I would say that

<<191>> besides the many income

<<193>> opportunities we create for people,

<<194>>

<<195>> the fact that we maintain a personal

<<199>> relationship on the ground and nurture this

<<202>> relationship

<<206>> makes a huge difference.

<<210>> Absolutely. I think a big part of our

<<212>> relationship is building these meaningful

<<214>> connections.

<<216>> That is what we call our sourcing network.

<<219>> In the end, it's just a large

<<222>> number of people who have been producing essential oils

<<223>> for a long time,

<<226>> often for generations.

<<228>> We try to learn from them,

<<231>> to understand their knowledge and wisdom,

<<235>> and to take that to the next level.

<<238>> Over the last few years, I have

<<241>> participated in establishing a sourcing

<<243>> partner and a new distillery in

<<246>> Moldova.

<<248>> I will visit it next week.

<<251>> This week we are planning the

<<254>> grand opening,

<<256>> and I will see it in operation for the first time.

<<259>> When it comes to our legacy, I think

<<262>> it's about creating a world

<<263>> as

<<265>> it should be.

<<269>> And Moldova is a very interesting and

<<272>>

<<272>> beautiful country. It is also

<<276>> the poorest country in Europe, yet the

<<280>> people are resilient,

<<281>> lovely people, very kind

<<285>> and

<<286>> independent. Through our partnership

<<288>> in Moldova, we provide seeds,

<<291>> technical know-how,

<<293>> harvesting equipment, long-term

<<296>> contracts,

<<298>> and especially on-time payments, which are extremely

<<300>> rare, yet common in this industry

<<303>> when it comes to the production of

<<305>> essential oils. In many cases, this also applies

<<307>> to farmers in general.

<<309>> Smallholders are paid last in almost every kind of

<<311>> supply chain.

<<316>> We have turned this principle on its head.

<<318>>

<<319>> Farmers have our full

<<321>> attention, and we want them to be paid first,

<<323>> on time, and provided with

<<326>> long-term contracts so that

<<329>> they have the security that what

<<331>> they plant now will grow for seven, eight,

<<333>> or ten, fifteen years.

<<337>> Everything we have talked about has a ripple effect.

<<339>>

<<342>> As you said, this dialogue

<<347>> we have about fair pay,

<<350>> sharing information,

<<355>> being transparent

<<357>> and inclusive. The satisfaction this gives to the farmers

<<361>> is completely different compared

<<364>> to just showing up, delivering information

<<368>> or raw materials, and being completely at the mercy

<<370>> of the buyer.

<<373>> So it is about creating the world

<<375>> as it should be. We give

<<378>> many farmers a purpose

<<382>> that they truly love.

<<386>> Sheldon, we cannot let you go

<<388>> without you telling us for a few minutes

<<389>> about all the wonderful

<<391>> things happening in the Sanaag region with the

<<393>> hospital. Absolutely, I have

<<396>> actually just arrived in London

<<398>> after being on the road for the last four

<<400>> months. We have

<<402>> actually just opened the Sanaag Specialty

<<404>> Hospital

<<407>> after working on it for four years.

<<408>> That was one of my most important

<<411>> projects. I would say, in terms

<<415>> of legacy, it can hardly

<<417>> be surpassed. We are talking about one of the

<<420>> most remote, underdeveloped spots

<<422>> on this earth, which is additionally threatened

<<424>> by severe conflicts, with the

<<427>> highest maternal and

<<428>> child mortality rate in the world. We

<<431>> built a specialty hospital

<<433>> with 100 employees.

<<438>> We have been open for six weeks and

<<441>> have already treated more than

<<443>> 3,000 people,

<<445>> performed 33 surgeries that

<<449>> were never possible in this region before.

<<452>> It is a great model that

<<455>> doTERRA has created, and

<<458>> we are doing it really well. Many

<<461>> entrepreneurs set up foundations that have

<<463>> absolutely nothing to do with their business.

<<467>> But doTERRA has a real model where

<<472>> we use our purchasing

<<473>> power to create jobs

<<476>> and meaningful income,

<<479>> and additionally, we do these meaningful

<<481>> projects in the communities. It is all

<<485>> a great opportunity. I look forward

<<487>> to every single day I can go to work.

<<499>> wonderful Wellness Advocates and

<<517>> doTERRA is and what it is about. We

<<521>> love the European markets. There is

<<522>> so much to do with sourcing here, as

<<524>> you can see. Sheldon is in London right now,

<<527>> just came from Greece, and is heading

<<531>> to Bulgaria next week. A few

<<533>> weeks ago, I was in Bulgaria. I

<<535>> am boarding a flight tomorrow to

<<537>> Albania.

<<537>> There you see all the love for Europe

<<540>> and the great work taking place. We are

<<543>> excited to create opportunities for

<<545>> all Wellness Advocates to come and

<<548>> see this sourcing

<<549>> effort with their own eyes. To invite our

<<551>> Wellness Advocates to Italy, hopefully

<<554>> one day to Moldova, Turkey,

<<557>> Greece, where many have already been or

<<560>> will still be able to go, to Bulgaria

<<562>> and Albania. We are

<<565>> excited to help continue creating these

<<567>> insights, hands-on experiences,

<<570>> and opportunities for all

<<573>> visit the supply chains in Europe,
