<<41>> as we head to up the mountain to be able
<<44>> to meet with people who are harvesting
<<45>> the better of her for us the first
<<48>> reaction I had was was hope it was
<<51>> beautiful it was lush and green it was
<<53>> very different from what you see in the
<<55>> cities and in Haiti the next thing I
<<58>> really noticed was how hard they work
<<61>> there are calloused hands they're
<<64>> weathered faces but they took pride in
<<66>> their work
<<67>> vetiver is a really interesting crop in
<<70>> that it's a very Hardy grass it can grow
<<73>> just about anywhere that was introduced
<<75>> there primarily for the fragrance
<<77>> industry and we have targeted for the
<<80>> aromatherapy industry specifically both
<<82>> with our partners on the ground there
<<83>> and the cooperative we're working with
<<85>> to grow our raw materials the manual
<<89>> labor required to harvest vetiver
<<91>> is quite incredible it's much harder
<<94>> than what I ever imagined and they do
<<96>> this day in and day out not only do they
<<100>> hold a better per plant out of the out
<<102>> of the ground but then they've got to
<<104>> take a stick and they've got to beat the
<<106>> dirt out of the root system so that all
<<108>> they have left is just that pure better
<<111>> root
<<114>> fifteen days to produce one gallon of
<<117>> oil 500 of these bells to fill up one of
<<121>> those 20-foot tall Steel's
<<122>> and after its harvested you'll get one
<<125>> gallon of oil for five guys work for 15
<<128>> days
<<129>> Haiti being the poorest country in the
<<130>> Western Hemisphere truly is an ideal
<<133>> place for a co impact sourcing they have
<<136>> tens of thousands of small-scale farmers
<<138>> who are largely unorganized and are
<<141>> being able to go there and truly make an
<<143>> impact the difference in a country that
<<145>> badly needs it presented us a great
<<147>> opportunity to to undertake our sourcing
<<149>> initiatives there

<<182>> you see a super diva diva Kapoor he
<<185>> calls it a woman boom oh kappa quitta
<<188>> vgb oreganata boom boom boom
<<190>> planification bungees you hit that
<<192>> ladder knee knee open be sure near as we
<<198>> met with the cooperative and to be able
<<200>> to really understand some of the
<<201>> challenges and trials that they were
<<203>> dealing with first of all is that the
<<206>> income that they were receiving was not
<<208>> sustainable they would go out and
<<210>> harvest vetiver as they needed it but it
<<212>> didn't sustain them throughout the year
<<214>> to be able to provide for their family
<<215>> to provide the food that they needed to
<<217>> be able to provide even the simplest of
<<219>> things like education they couldn't
<<221>> afford to send their children to school
<<223>> because they didn't have that
<<225>> sustainable stream of income throughout
<<227>> the year

<<237>> mr. Sibley today we are the create
<<241>> meaning the proof to me personally I
<<245>> even cry after hearing certain things
<<248>> you know that makes me more motivated to
<<253>> have those people working very hard in
<<256>> the vertical field to make it a better
<<259>> life
<<260>> even if I have a disagree and I don't
<<263>> have those people I won't be able to
<<265>> work and even if those people have their
<<269>> field full of whatever and they don't
<<271>> have their disagree nobody will be able
<<274>> but it's like we change on a motorcycle
<<276>> on a bicycle that is going tip after tip
<<280>> you know so we have been doing that work
<<284>> and having a company like daughter you
<<287>> know coming and have the same vision
<<289>> same rap and have all the Asian in the
<<293>> Vltava film have a better life
<<295>> including myself
<<300>> [Music]
<<303>> but what touched me the most as we met
<<305>> with them is to discover that they had
<<308>> no access to clean water then they were
<<310>> travelling for three hours every single
<<313>> day to be able to collect water that
<<316>> wasn't even drinkable
<<317>> [Music]
<<320>> this was really very touching to hear
<<323>> you know certain people in 2014 that
<<327>> have water you know to even be or four
<<331>> to even cook their food they have to
<<333>> work hours from where we were to get a
<<336>> single gallon of water and myself are
<<340>> not acceptable I want to change their
<<342>> way of life but I won't be able to make
<<345>> a miracle as we sat there we understood
<<350>> the desires of their heart to someday
<<352>> have water
<<354>> we made a commitment that we would bring
<<355>> that to them
<<358>> [Music]
<<370>> [Music]
<<393>> we can make a difference we can do that
<<396>> because that's what we stand for
